Ramaswamy Slams GOP As ‘Party Of Losers’

Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, a GOP candidate for president, slammed the Republican Party earlier this week, after very disappointing election results on Tuesday.

During the third GOP primary debate, which was held on Wednesday in Miami, Ramaswamy said the GOP is now a “party of losers.” He says that a “cancer” exists within the establishment of the GOP, with Ronna McDaniel, the chair of the Republican National Committee, being a major reason why the party has experienced so many losses recently.

As Ramaswamy said during the debate:

“We’ve become a party of losers at the end of the day.”

McDaniel assumed the role of RNC chair in 2017, and since that time, Ramaswamy said that Republicans have performed very poorly in major elections. He mentioned the highly-publicized losses the party experienced during the midterm elections in both 2018 and 2022, as well as the presidential election in 2020.

This year, he said the GOP “got trounced” in major elections throughout the country.

One of the highest-profile losses came in Kentucky, where Democratic Governor Andy Beshear was able to win re-election despite his state being heavily conservative.

Another major loss for the Republican Party came in Virginia, where liberals were able to gain total control of the Virginia Legislature, despite having Republican Glenn Youngkin serving as governor.

The Republican losses weren’t relegated to just candidates, either. The party suffered a major loss in Ohio, where residents comfortably passed a measure that will protect women’s rights to get an abortion.

Because of all this, Ramaswamy said:

“We have to have accountability in our party. For that matter, Ronna, if you want to come on stage tonight and look the GOP voters in the eye and tell them you resign, I will turn over, yield my time to you.”

Ramaswamy has tried to run a campaign that separates himself from the other Republican candidates. And while he’s certainly done that successfully, he’s also inadvertently become fodder and fuel for Democrats.

Following his statements at Wednesday’s debate, President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign shared a video of the comments on the social media site X, with the quote:

“Ramaswamy: We’ve become a party of losers.”

So, instead of rallying Republican voters to his side, he’s actually causing more damage to the Republican Party and potentially damaging its national reputation.

There’s no denying that something does need to be done within the conservative party to re-write the script, so to speak, and figure out why the GOP has been suffering these losses on a national level.

This year’s losses are concerning, of course, but it’s next year’s election that will prove huge for the future of the country. In addition to obviously having a presidential election, 2024 will feature many seats in the Senate and House of Representatives up for vote.

With such slim majorities in the Senate (for the Democrats) and the House (for the Republicans), total control of Washington is at stake. So, the Republican Party better do something soon if it wants to come out victorious.
