During her royal tour of Greenland, Queen Mary was pushed toward the ground by a motorized scooter that drove into her, leaving her clearly shaken up.
The 52-year-old Danish monarch, who was born in Australia, was meeting with admirers in Nuuk when a man on a scooter crashed into her. Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, who were standing within a few meters of the king, were witnesses to the dreadful moment when she was unexpectedly plowed into.
The dark gray scooter collided with the queen, causing her to lose her balance. Her bodyguards wasted no time swooping in and immobilizing the scooter’s driver.
The driver said he didn’t know what happened, making him look much more frightened than the Queen. He had intended to reach out and touch Queen Mary but explained that he pressed down on the accelerator instead.
According to the Palace media staff, Mary was able to continue with her schedule of events unaffected by the incident. The well-liked monarch regained her composure after the event, although she screamed out in shock as the accident occurred.
After hearing the old man’s story, the police and palace security decided it was all a mistake.
She met Frederik, a 34-year-old advertising executive in Australia, at the Slip Inn bar in Sydney in 2000 while out with friends for the summer Olympics. Later on, she learned that he had other royal friends in Europe, including his younger brother Prince Joachim and his cousin Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark. The Danish crown prince was also his uncle.
The couple were engaged in October 2003 after meeting in secret and having a long-distance affair. They were married in Copenhagen Cathedral on May 14, 2004. They have four children- 18-year-old Prince Christian, 16-year-old Princess Isabella, and 13-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.
