It is believed that Princess Beatrice’s ex-boyfriend overdosed and died at a Florida hotel.
The death of Paolo Liuzzo was found in a guest room at the citizenM Miami Center in the downtown waterfront area on February 7, according to Wednesday evening’s reports. He lived in the area and was 41 years old.
No official cause of death has been announced, but the Miami police have said that they are still investigating the matter and hope to have a resolution soon. The incident was being looked into as a possible overdose, according to Michael Vega, a spokesperson for the Miami police.
Former Australian citizen and art industry consultant Liuzzo was reportedly addicted to gambling and had a history of drug problems, including a cocaine possession conviction. Princess Beatrice and the Italian native began dating in 2005.
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, her parents, blessed their daughter’s courtship when they asked him to go skiing with them on holiday in Verbier, Switzerland.
The Duchess of York publicly approved of her daughter’s relationship, even though the two were seven years apart—she was 17, he was 24.
Sarah said that her daughter Beatrice is a mature girl who will soon be eighteen and has a large circle of friends, including Paolo.
Liuzzo was accused of manslaughter after an altercation with fellow College of the Holy Cross student Jonathan R. Duchatellier during a drunken fistfight before his relationship with the Princess.
After doing 100 hours of community service, his conviction was reduced to assault and battery.
But when news of his affair with Beatrice spread, he was extradited to the United States for breaching the terms of his three-year probation, which had already been extended by six months.
Before he passed away, Liuzzo was a consultant for the art sector; he was believed to have inherited his father’s wealth. The news source said his home was supposedly not far from the hotel where he passed away.
The 35-year-old Beatrice has been silent in the wake of Liuzzo’s death.
Reportedly single Liuzzo had another brush with the police in 2009 after a rental automobile accident in Australia’s Gold Coast.
After trying to dine and dash at a casino, he was subsequently taken into custody and accused of fraud and possessing cocaine.
The death of Liuzzo follows that of Thomas Kingston, 45, who was an ex-boyfriend of Pippa Middleton, by just a few weeks. Married to Lady Gabriella Windsor, the member of the royal family died on February 25 from a gunshot wound to the head.
