Trump Blasts Liberal Hosts Over Insensitive Comments
President Donald Trump has called for the immediate resignation of MSNBC hosts Nicolle Wallace and Rachel Maddow following their controversial remarks about 13-year-old brain cancer survivor Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel. The young cancer fighter was featured during Trump’s recent address to Congress, but rather than celebrating the boy’s courage, the liberal hosts used the moment to attack Trump himself.
Trump was direct about his views when addressing the situation, pointing out how the entire episode reflected poorly on Democrats.
“I thought it was very embarrassing for the Democrats, what happened the other night. Even CNN ‘Fake News’ said that. They came out and said it. And worse than CNN is ‘MS-DNC,’ which is the worst. And the good news is very few people watch them anymore. They’ve lost such credibility,” President Donald Trump said.
Wallace Links Cancer Survivor to January 6
In what many viewers found to be an incomprehensible stretch, Wallace somehow connected the young cancer survivor to the January 6 Capitol riot during MSNBC’s post-address coverage. The bizarre association prompted immediate backlash on social media, with conservatives pointing out how the left seems incapable of keeping politics out of even the most heartwarming human interest stories.
“Frankly, what Nicolle Wallace said – I’ve never been a fan of hers, and she’s not very talented, but I will tell you what she said the other day about the young man is disgraceful. She should be forced to resign,” President Donald Trump said.
The White House was quick to respond, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt condemning Wallace’s comments as “disgusting.” Leavitt further accused Democrats and liberals of allowing their disdain for Trump to overshadow their patriotism, a criticism that resonated with many conservative viewers who witnessed the coverage.
Maddow’s Criticism Falls Flat
Rachel Maddow didn’t fare much better in Trump’s assessment. The MSNBC host accused Trump of making a “spectacle” of DJ Daniel’s illness while simultaneously criticizing supposed cuts to pediatric cancer research funding. This politicization of a child’s health struggle struck many as tone-deaf and unnecessarily partisan.
“And Rachel Maddow should be forced to resign. Nobody watches her anyway. I don’t know – it’s not possible they pay her as much money as I hear. But certainly she’s lost all credibility, both of them. But what they said the other day, they should be forced to resign about that young person, who is suffering greatly,” President Trump said.
Given that Trump just sued MSNBC into oblivion, and given how disgusting this all was, he might actually get what he wants at this point.
