Nancy Pelosi Gushes Over ‘Exquisite’ Trump Indictment

There’s at least one person who is ecstatic that former President Donald Trump is facing yet another federal indictment – former Speaker of the House, and long-time Trump nemesis, Nancy Pelosi.

On Monday, New York magazine published an interview with Pelosi, the California member of the House, who said that the newest federal indictment Trump is facing is “exquisite … beautiful and intricate.”

She said:

“The indictments against the president are exquisite. They’re beautiful and intricate, and they probably have a better chance of conviction than anything that I would come up with.”

The most recent indictment handed down against Trump includes four criminal counts all related to his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. That indictment – just like the one into how Trump allegedly handled classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort – came as a result of an investigation led by special counsel Jack Smith.

In addition to the two federal indictments, Trump has also been indicted on state-level charges in New York regarding business fraud. And he may face even more state-level charges in Georgia regarding his alleged attempts to commit election fraud there.

In all three of the indictments that have been formally handed down against Trump thus far, the former president has pleaded not guilty.

Pelosi was serving as Speaker of the House when the Capitol riot occurred on January 6, 2021, and she was one of the main proponents who pushed for a formal inquiry into the matter after it happened.

Ultimately, the House created a special January 6 select committee that investigated the day and the incidents surrounding it. Many people have said that the work done by that committee is what ultimately led to Smith’s formal investigation and the indictment handed down last week.

Speaking with New York magazine last Friday, Pelosi wouldn’t take credit for any of the work that the committee did, aside from appointing the members who served on it. She did, however, praise the committee for the “beautiful balance” it took in the approach to its work, as well as its “seriousness of purpose.”

Despite the fact that Trump has been indicted three different times now – and likely faces a fourth – he’s still the frontrunner in the GOP primary leading up to the 2024 presidential election. Pelosi warned of the possible dangers that could lie ahead for the country if Trump were to win another White House term.

She told New York magazine:

“Don’t even think of that. Don’t think of the world being on fire. It cannot happen, or we will not be the United States of America. If he were to be president, it would be a criminal enterprise in the White House.”

While Pelosi is obviously lavishing in the fact that her nemesis is facing all of these criminal charges, she struck a slightly different tone when talking about it on CNN last week. Speaking with host Jake Tapper about the most recent federal indictment against Trump, Pelosi said:

“It’s heartbreaking for our country to have a president of the United States with this list of charges against him.”
