Two men shot during the July 2024 assassination attempt on Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania campaign rally have publicly accused the U.S. Secret Service of negligence. David Dutch, 57, a former Marine, and James Copenhaver, 74, a retired liquor store manager, were among the bystanders injured during the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania. The gunman, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, opened fire from an unsecured rooftop, killing one man, Corey Comperatore, and wounding Trump in the ear before being fatally shot by sharpshooters.

Dutch and Copenhaver, speaking in their first interview since the attack, expressed anger at what they believe was a preventable situation. “It wouldn’t have happened, had it been secure,” Copenhaver said. Both men are considering legal action against the Secret Service, claiming that their failure to adequately secure the area led to the tragedy.

Kimberly Cheatle, the director of the Secret Service at the time, resigned after lawmakers called for her to step down, labeling the incident the agency’s “most significant operational failure” in decades.

Despite the attack, Trump returned to the same Pennsylvania fairgrounds earlier this month, rallying supporters and linking his survival to the importance of an Election Day victory.

And Kamala Harris calls him weak. Ha!
