The fashion industry is reeling from the sudden loss of iconic supermodel Dayle Haddon, who passed away at 76 in what authorities suspect was a case of carbon monoxide poisoning. The incident occurred at a property owned by her daughter, Ryan Haddon, and son-in-law, actor Marc Blucas, in Solebury Township, Pennsylvania.
First responders were called to the scene after reports of an unconscious 76-year-old man, identified as Walter Blucas, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Tragically, Dayle Haddon was found inside the detached in-law suite and pronounced dead at the scene. High levels of carbon monoxide were detected, but fortunately, no one in the main house was harmed.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident, which has been described as a “tragedy.” Det. Sgt. Jonathan Koretzky of the Solebury Twp. Police Department provided insight into the suspected cause, stating, “It is believed a heating unit, a boiler unit, is the source of the carbon monoxide. The initial readings on EMS and fire company arrival were extremely high, so we’re treating this as a carbon monoxide poisoning incident.”
“As levels start to increase, 100, 200 parts per million, that’s where it gets fatal. Exposure for a couple hours, three hours, four hours, 200-300 parts per million, that could be fatal,” Chief Brazunas said.
The incident has also affected emergency responders, with two medics hospitalized and one police officer treated for exposure. All are reported to be in stable condition.
A Stellar Career in Fashion and Beyond
Dayle Haddon’s passing marks the end of an era in the fashion industry. She was a trailblazer, being the only model to have secured major contracts with L’Oréal, Revlon, Estée Lauder, and Max Factor. Her face graced the covers of prestigious magazines such as Vogue, Elle, and Cosmopolitan, cementing her status as a supermodel.
“She was a woman in her power, yet soft and attentive to all. Deeply creative and curious, gifted with beauty inside and out. Always kind and thoughtful,” Haddon’s daughter Ryan said.
Beyond her modeling career, Haddon was a spokesperson for L’Oreal for over 15 years and an Ambassador for UNICEF. She also founded WomenOne, a charity focused on the education of girls and women, showcasing her commitment to philanthropy and social causes.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of home safety measures, particularly concerning carbon monoxide. Phoenixville Fire Chief Eamon Brazunas emphasized the critical need for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in homes, stating, “If your carbon monoxide alarm does go off, the first thing you do, obviously, is alert everyone there’s a problem. Get out of the house, call 911.”
