After an assassination attempt at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, failed, King Charles III sent a personal message to former President Donald Trump.
According to Buckingham Palace, the 75-year-old British king sent the message via the UK embassy in Washington, D.C. Nothing has been made public about the letter’s contents. PM Keir Starmer of the United Kingdom, who had already spoken out against the violence, echoed Charles’s condemnation in his letter. In a social media statement, Starmer conveyed his shock and sadness over the events and offered sympathies to Trump and his family.
The incident happened at the Butler Farm Showgrounds when Trump was speaking to the audience. The shooter nicked Trump’s right ear, and the Secret Service was able to neutralize the attacker, Thomas Matthew Crooks (20), immediately after. In addition to the murder of ex-firefighter Corey Comperatore (50), David Dutch (57) and James Copenhaver (74) were also wounded in the attack.
Relatives of Corey Comperatore (50) have taken to Facebook to identify him as one of the victims of July 13th’s shooting at former President Trump’s event in Pennsylvania.
Comperatore heroically rescued his two kids and his wife by diving on them to shield them from gunfire. Tragically, the 20-year-old shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, killed him.
The family of the Buffalo Township volunteer fire chief, Comperatore, paid homage to Corey online. Corey’s brother said he was murdered because of animosity toward one man. His sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, also posted comments on Facebook about her brother Corey.
In an interview, Trump said that he wouldn’t be alive today if he hadn’t turned his head ever-so-slightly when the shooter opened fire with his rifle. The bullet instead clipped Trump’s ear and splashed blood over his cheek.
Trump added that the doctor had never seen anything like it and had even referred to it as a miracle.
