Judge Rules Against Disclosure of Prince Harry’s Immigration Records

A judge has ruled against the publication of Prince Harry’s application to live in the United States. The court declared that the Duke of Sussex’s visa application would remain private because “the public does not have a strong interest in disclosure.” US judge Carl Nichols added that Prince Harry can expect privacy like any other foreign national. The British Prince relocated to the United States from his native UK in 2020 after marrying California native Meghan Markle.

The conservative Heritage Foundation filed a lawsuit demanding his visa application be published to expose whether he lied about past drug use. In his autobiography, Spare, the Prince acknowledged that he had previously used cannabis and cocaine. The Heritage Foundation’s lawsuit argued that US immigration law “generally renders such a person inadmissible for entry.”

Donald Trump warned Prince Harry earlier this year that he could face deportation if the Republican contender wins back the White House. Speaking on Britain’s GB News, Mr. Trump said Harry should not have “special privileges” and if it is proven that he lied on his visa application, “appropriate action” should be taken.

The Republican nominee has also clashed with the Prince’s wife, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle. In 2016, she described Mr. Trump as “divisive” and a misogynist, while he labeled her “nasty” and accused her of breaking the late Queen’s heart by leaving the Royal family and publicly criticizing it.

In August, the former President’s son, Eric Trump, also appeared on GB News and offered to send the couple back to the United Kingdom. Mr. Trump praised the British monarchy as a “beautiful” and “sacred” institution that had unfortunately welcomed a “spoiled” apple in the form of Meghan Markle. “You can always have bad actors in everything,” he added.

The Royal couple recently spoke out about the November election and said they would keep their views to themselves and not endorse any candidate. Markle did encourage people to get informed, register, and exercise their rights on election day. While the Duchess may not have offered any endorsement, her past praise of Kamala Harris suggests which way she might cast her ballot.
