Republicans have focused much of their criticism on Vice President Kamala Harris at their national convention this week, while Democrats argue over President Biden’s re-election chances.
They have tied the possible presidential candidate (if Biden is forced out) with a government that has increased inflation and crime. Their narrative portrays her as a pawn for a president who is both elderly and ineffectual. They hold her responsible for the unprecedented influx of migrants along the border.
The Republicans made a point to continually call Harris the “border czar,” a position the left maintains she was never given.
Since the border is a mess, the strategy is to remind America that she is largely incompetent. Her role on the border quietly faded away.
Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida commented on a handful of snickers in the crowd on Wednesday, stating that Harris is hopeless in whatever she does. Gaetz quipped that relegating border control to Kamala Harris is like putting your retirement savings in Bernie Madoff’s hands.
Despite the Democrats’ complaints that Harris was never the border czar, it seems they are relying heavily on the term rather than her role. She was never officially called a “czar,” but her role was evident.
The AP reported HERE that Harris was indeed tasked by the Biden administration to “tackle the migration challenge facing the United States.
When Biden was vice president for former president Barack Obama, he was also assigned the same politically unpalatable role. One could easily say that Biden failed as the “border czar,” and they would be correct by most reasonable measures.
Some speakers, such as Mr. Trump’s former presidential challenger Nikki Haley, have been trying to persuade Republicans for a long time that voting for Joe Biden would mean voting for Kamala Harris on the grounds that Biden will not be able to complete his second term even if he is re-elected due to his advanced age.
At the convention, Republican political consultant Dave Carney stated that one should never miss an opportunity to make the case that the Biden-Harris administration has been a disaster.
As a result, the stage chant of “border czar” not only stings, but it also sticks.
