According to those in the know, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will launch his candidacy for president in 2024 during a Twitter Spaces livestream with Elon Musk on Wednesday night.
At 6 p.m. ET, DeSantis will speak with Musk, and his campaign will broadcast a launch video, ending months of buildup and setting up a bruising contest for the Republican nomination with frontrunner Donald Trump.
On Wednesday morning, Fox & Friends poked fun at their lack of technology acumen, possibly unwittingly shedding light on the digital divide between Ron DeSantis and Fox News viewers.
It’s been a not so closely held secret that the governor of Florida will declare his presidential run on Wednesday at 6 PM during an exclusive interview with Elon Musk, the owner and CEO of Twitter. And the social networking site’s Spaces function will serve as the Q&A host.
After Tomlinson reported on DeSantis and other GOP presidential candidates, Steve Doocy asked Lucas Tomlinson “what Twitter Spaces was.
Tomlinson conceded that he was unsure, saying only that it “sounds like a video function.”
Doocy asked if there was a button somewhere!” to the amusement of his co-hosts.
WHAT IS “TWITTER SPACES”?
According to Reuters, it’s a Live audio chat option on Twitter, the social media network Musk owns. Twitter suggests they do so in something called a “Space,” where they can interact with one another and share ideas.
Any person with 600+ followers is eligible to host a Space. Thirteen persons, including the host and two co-hosts, can speak in a Space at any given moment. Anyone is free to use these areas as they choose.
In prior episodes, Musk discussed Twitter’s growth, his vision for electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla (TSLA.O), and the state of the economy worldwide.
DeSantis will appear at a Miami Four Seasons hotel event after announcing on Twitter Spaces alongside Musk, and then he’ll talk to Trey Gowdy on Fox News Tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
