Alvez Garcia was the driver of the Toyota Tacoma pickup that collided with the two Prius vehicles at the I-805 convergence, according to CHP investigators. One of the small vehicles was struck from behind. Four individuals were killed, and two were ejected onto the freeway.
Poss’ Prius crossed the debris field, colliding with one of the casualties who had been ejected from the vehicle during the first collision.
The CHP reported that two of the four individuals in the first Prius were declared deceased at the scene of the crash, while the other two died at the hospital.
Alvarez Garcia and Poss were both taken to a hospital and subsequently sent to the San Diego County Jail for several offenses.

A BAC of 0.16% is regarded as highly intoxicated and gravely impaired. The allowed limit in the United States is typically 0.08%. Poss was also charged with driving while inebriated, according to the California Highway Patrol.
