Planned Protests and Organizers
As Inauguration Day approaches, far-left activist groups are mobilizing for large-scale protests in Washington, D.C. and across the nation. The Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER) Coalition and the People’s Forum are spearheading these efforts, with a history of organizing demonstrations that have led to congressional investigations.
These groups have been implicated in vandalism and confrontations with law enforcement during previous protests in June and July. Malcolm X Park has been announced as a protest location, raising concerns about potential violence given the organizers’ track record.
The protests are part of a broader campaign to challenge Trump’s political agenda and inspire widespread political reform – and cause as much chaos as possible.
The People’s Forum’s website calls for a nationwide mobilization against Trump’s policies, stating, “On Inauguration Day, January 20th, people will come together in Washington D.C. and in cities and towns across the country in a nationwide mobilization opposing Trump’s ultra-right, billionaire agenda,” according to their organizing and fundraising website.
Security Concerns and Preparations
The planned protests have raised significant security concerns. The House Natural Resources Committee has demanded information from these groups due to their past disregard for public gathering permits. In a previous incident, the National Park Service revoked a permit for a protest due to chaos and vandalism.
Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger anticipates about 10,000 protestors and has indicated there will be a significant security presence for the inauguration. However, the U.S. Capitol Police have not issued permits for demonstrations on Capitol Grounds for January 20.
“Our jurisdiction is highly restricted for the 60th Inauguration,” a spokesperson said.
Adding to the uncertainty, neither the People’s Forum nor ANSWER have confirmed whether they intend to keep their demonstrations lawful, raising concerns about potential unrest.
The protests planned for Washington, D.C. are just a part of a larger movement. Over 70 demonstrations are scheduled to take place across the country on Inauguration Day, indicating the widespread nature of the opposition to Trump’s incoming administration.
Let’s pray for all the police officers and federal agents tasked with keeping Americans safe from these insane people.
