Last week, a 10-year-old boy—the biological son of rapper Lil Durk from Chicago—shot his stepfather attempting to save his biological mother in what seemed like a domestic quarrel.
The incident occurred last Monday, July 1. The stepfather, Joshua Pippens, got into an argument with the shooter’s mother. The moment it happened was captured on surveillance tape. In the clip, Pippens is sporting orange, the mom is in a purple dress, and the little gunman is in red. As Pippens seemed to be trying to hold the arguing mother in check, Lil Durk’s son removed the revolver from the stepfather’s hip.
As their altercation escalated from the sidewalk to the street, he pointed the revolver at Pippens. The argument dragged on until Durk’s son fired a shot, which caused Pippens to lose his balance and fall to the ground.
Caution is suggested for viewers of the tape due to the disturbing nature of both the gunshot and the ensuing screaming.
When he was stabilized in the hospital, Pippens took to social media to editorialize on the whole incident and give his reaction.
Pippens took to Instagram to clarify that he was not the one who had initiated the altercation. He said the shooter’s mom was instigating the argument and implied that the boy’s mother was urging the 10-year-old to shoot Pippens with the pistol.
He said, following his mother’s instructions, that the son snatched his pistol from his hip and eventually shot him.
He insisted he still cared for the child while simultaneously blaming the mother. In his post, Pippens expressed his shock that his son, who he had lavished with money for things like football leagues and four-wheelers, was acting out in this way, saying he still adores him as if he were his own.
He has no intention of pursuing legal action, regardless of the fact that his other children and several blood relatives were there throughout the confrontation and shooting.
Pippins wrote that he hopes everyone manages to overcome the challenges that God has in store for them as a consequence of “playing” with him.
Meanwhile, Rapper Lil Durk has remained mum on the matter. He has ten children in all (five girls and five males).
