Britain’s knife crime problem is just getting worse – and it doesn’t matter how many new laws politicians put in place to prevent young people getting knives.
Young people across the country are becoming victims of knife crime virtually every day, and this story from Nottinghamshire reveals just how easy it is for anybody to be stabbed.
At a glance:
- A 17-year-old boy was stabbed near a KFC in Bulwell, Nottingham on Sunday afternoon.
- Police have charged an 18-year-old man with wounding with intent and threatening with a bladed article.
- The incident is being treated seriously, with ongoing investigations and appeals for witnesses.
A 17-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed near a KFC restaurant in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire. The stabbing occurred on Hucknall Lane on Sunday, October 6, at around 2:55 PM. The victim, whose injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, has since been discharged from Queen’s Medical Centre.
An 18-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent and threatening a person with a bladed or sharply pointed article in a public place. He is set to appear in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Additionally, a 17-year-old who was previously arrested on suspicion of affray has been released on conditional bail, while a third suspect, a 19-year-old man, remains in custody after being arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas, who is leading the investigation, emphasized the seriousness of the incident. “As you would expect, we are treating this incident extremely seriously. There will be a large police presence in the area as we determine what has happened and seek to find those responsible.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the attack to come forward. “We are calling for anyone who saw what happened, has any dashcam footage of the incident, or has any information to please come forward,” Rukas added.
Local residents expressed their shock and frustration at the recent violence. One Bulwell resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “It’s terrible, I feel like we can’t go one weekend without bad news nowadays. I’ve lived here for more than 20 years, and I just feel as though things are getting worse. These things never used to happen, and now we just see it as a normal thing. I’m just numb to it.”
The police cordon remains in place around the scene as investigations continue, and authorities are asking the public for any further information that could assist with the case.
Can somebody tell our politicians over here in the U.S. that laws preventing the sale of knives doesn’t prevent stabbing? Maybe they’ll get the point about guns.
