Actor Nick Offerman mocked Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, with a new song he performed at Comics for Kamala, an online fundraising event. Offerman was joined by several Hollywood celebrities, including Ben Stiller, Mark Hamill, and Rosie O’Donnell, in endorsing the vice president at the event. His performance, which lasted roughly four minutes, raised $12,000 for the Harris campaign.
In the song, performed to the tune of “God Save America,” Offerman declares that he is proud to be a “Kamala man who has quit the GOP.” The lyrics also proclaim that the singer cannot bring himself to vote for a candidate with 34 felony convictions to his credit. The “Parks and Recreation” star also ridiculed Vance for online rumors that he had once been intimate with a couch – an unsubstantiated claim that has gone viral online and prompted numerous jokes aimed at the Vice Presidential candidate.
Offerman joins a growing list of celebrities who publicly support Vice President Harris. Heavyweights including George Clooney, Barbra Streisand, Robert DeNiro, and Jamie Lee Curtis have all spoken out in Harris’s favor, with arch-Trump critic DeNiro stating that there is “nothing more important for our country than defeating Donald Trump.”
DeNiro is one of the former President’s most ardent critics. In May, he appeared outside a New York courthouse where Donald Trump was on trial and delivered a speech accusing Trump of seeking to destroy American democracy and remain in the White House as a dictator. “He will never leave,” the Goodfellas actor warned.
Meanwhile, a former Trump administration staffer stated his belief that Mr. Trump must drop JD Vance if he hopes to win in November. Trump’s White House communications director, Anthony Scaramucci, made the comments on Twitter, having transformed from Trump supporter to an outspoken opponent.
Vance has been the subject of controversial headlines for making what many see as extreme remarks about women and families, including his proposal that parents should have more voting rights than people without children. Several GOP lawmakers and activists are reportedly alarmed by Vance’s performance, but Donald Trump insists he does not regret his choice.
